Jamie Woods says:

Great Video. Very detailed

investmentsUSA says:

Thanks for your “To the Point” video. I tried six months ago to replace and gave up. Today with your video I removed and replaced in 30 minutes with a 5 minute coffee break.

Temachok says:

Yes, replacing sensor should fix the problem. Not sure where it’s located on Civic though…
Try to read through online Honda forums. You shold be able to find information where sensor located and how to replace it.

Temachok says:

Not sure. It might be separate issue. I didn’t have problems with shifting. Hard to crank – yes. But not shifing. Sorry, I’m not a mechanic at all.
Replace sensors first. Hopefully shifting problem will go away as well.
Keep us posted how it goes.

Taylor Fenoglio says:

my altima hard shifts from 1st to second and now it started to take a second to crank. advance auto said that the crank sensor and the speed sensor errors are showing. will replacing these sensors fix the shifting problem

alyx diaz says:

Will this technique work for a 2003 Honda Civic? My car is “hicupping” when accelerating and at high way speeds as well. I took it to a mechanic to be scanned and the crank shaft sensor code came back. They estimated anywhere from 2-3 hrs labor and anywhere from $250-$500 just to LOOK and see if it is what it is.

Temachok says:

Take your car to AutoParts. They will scan it and tell you what is wrong for free.

CallMeWepa says:

so i have watched this video and i think this is what i need to do to fix my altima. Just earlier this week my car started to shake hard and everytime i applied the breaks and came to a full stop the car shuts off and the oil light comes on, break lights and so on. Its always when im breaking this happens so coul the sensor be the problem? or could if be something else? Alli know is when i break my RPM starts decreasing to 0 and once it gets there the car shakes bad then turns off. Help!?

fix1bus says:

It was a great idea to use the Iphone thank you

Temachok says:

You saved $400 in 4 hours. It’s like making $100/hr. Seems like it was worth the hassle!

Tennessee5006 says:

If your car randomly jerks while driving, this is a sign of this sensor going bad as well. My 2005 Altima began to starting jerking AKA(Hickups) at highway speeds. If your car does this, replace the sensor as soon as possible so you are not stranded on the side of the road. These sensors are not expensive, dont take it to the dealer, they will rip you off.

xdstart says:

Thank you for this video. The first day I tried for 3 hours trying to remove the original sensor. No luck. The next day I completed the entire job in about an hour. My repair shop gave me an estimate of $400 to do this job. Thanks again and you have a new subscriber

ProfessionalDad says:

honestly I was looking for a clue with that STUPID nissan green clip. Thanks for the vid. since the aftermarket crank sensor female clip is reversed its a little hard to get the OEM clip to go in by the way.

Temachok says:

My pleasure Sir.!
Nissan dealers must be hating me for revealing the secret…. 🙂

Temachok says:

Same here, I’m not a mechanic. Just an average Joe when it comes to cars. What I realized is most things are pretty simple rapairs. You just need to watch it once. It feels good being able to fix a car on your own and save hundreds of dollars along the way.

literalsteve says:

(cont.) Mine is 06 altima. I followed his instructions to a T. Pushing the tab with a stubby flathead screwdriver was a Lil difficult but heard it click and i was happy. Getting the 10mm extension in there was easy, I attached ratchet after it was on bolt and took it off. Grabbed sensor with plier and pulled out. You have no idea how grateful I am for this video.

literalsteve says:

Thank you for this video! I watched it about 30 times before I started. Only took me about forty minutes to do both sensors and I don’t know anything about cars. Mine were original (plastic) sensors. So I had to use flathead to push ran and needle nose to gently take connector off first. Then used needle nose to pull out sensor. There is a small space on top of engine where you can use flashlight with left hand and reach underneath with right hand to do work. Guys if I can do it anybody can

I’ll check back for the gasket video! Congrats on the 192!! Just crossed 143 myself! Looking forward to another 60k easy!! Lol

Temachok says:

You’re right. Sounds like a gasket. I’m replacing mine next week. I hit 192k on my Altima.
I’ll shoot a video and post it here after I’m finished.

Temachok says:

Awesome man! Sounds good! I’ll let you know if I’m in NY!

TheActionJxn says:

Just an update. Changes the part. Excellent video. Still some mild engine shake. Misfire? Code came out cylinder 2 misfire. Changed my plugs. 1 spark plug well has some oil. Gasket replacement time? Hope that fixes the misfire.

Ralph Muleti says:

I just changed it out and it starts up beautifully. The error code went off too after following your instruction with the battery cable. I cant thank you enough man. You saved me a few hundred. If youre ever in NY the beers on me pal. Thanks a million Tem!!!

Ralph Muleti says:

LOL! Just got the sensor out after almost 3 hours…not fun. Cant wait to get the new one in mail. I might try to cancel the order and just pay the 80 something dollars at Nissan. Keep u posted. Thanks Tem.

Temachok says:

Car will start right away after sensor replacement.
If error code doesn’t go away, unplug black negative cord from battery. Press horn button to release any remaining electricity. Wait for 5-10 min. Code should be gone!

Temachok says:

Thanks man!
Some excersizing is never bad idea!!!

Temachok says:

Code went away on its own after I replaced sensor.
I had similar situation. Car had engine light and drove fine in the beginning, then become very hard to start. It usually happened on hot engine after more that 1 hour non-stop driving, usually far away from home. I kept trying to start it for 5-10 minutes. Eventually it worked.

Ralph Muleti says:

Liked you by the way. And thanks again 4 all the advice/video. I will let u know if this works out. Im gonna be biking it until my car is fixed!!

Ralph Muleti says:

Do you need to reset code first or will my Altima turn over once I put the new sensor in? Im still waiting for the OEM sensor from ebay. Car was running OK with the check engine light on for a few days but now it cranks fine but will not start at all.

Temachok says:

It’ll run another 10 years…

chicaco83 says:

Thanks for the video it helps me alot I replaced my with no problem next time im gonna trying to get the newest one (check engine light disappear)

Temachok says:

Older plastic sensor part number is B3731-6N27K. Newer metallic part number is 23731-6N21A. Most reliable (and expensive) place would be your local Nissan dealer. You can also buy same quality OEM parts from eBay and save some money. I almost never had problems with buying parts on eBay as well.

Ralph Muleti says:

Thanks Tem. Do you have a genuine part number and a reliable place to buy it?

Temachok says:

Were you able to remove 4 bolts holding the cover?

TheActionJxn says:

I’m about to replace mine after work! Excellent detailed video. I’ll update after completion!

rkothar says:

I’m having trouble removing the Engine cover. Any tips?

Temachok says:

Looks like those are original OEM sensors in plastic housing – same exact sensors that you got in your car from factory. The one I show in video is newer updated design enclosed in metallic cylinder.

chicaco83 says:

I have a question im going to replace my but I went to the dealer and he gave me this part # B3731-6N27K it comes two sensor cam and crank and the part # you show is different thats the ?

Temachok says:

Yes. It should be the same sensor and location on 2004 Altima.

Ralph Muleti says:

Will this work on my 2004 2.5 Altima?

اخوان سنة وشيعى وهذا البلد ما نبيعة says:

this is the best video in the way of explanation, slow and pure English language and thus even the Iraqi people with fair English can understand it.

thanks a lot

Temachok says:

Thank you Ron!

Temachok says:

My pleasure! Stay tuned for future Altima repair videos! Thank you!

Jonathan Paez says:

Thank you so much… we replace both sensors and now works fine… i hope so this replacement during a long time…Again thank you for share this videos!…

Temachok says:

Two videos I posted are not exactly the same. Sensors are cam and crank shaft positioning sensors. They have absolutely identical design, part # and error code. What makes them cam or crank is the place where you insert them. Crank is on the back of the engine, cam is on the side. Most likely you have bad crank sensor, but you may wanna replace both.
